The Standard Range Model Y has disappeared from Tesla’s online ordering page. People looking to purchase the all-electric crossover will need to spend at least $48,990 for the Long Range all-wheel drive variant.
It’s not clear why the variant was removed. It’s strange for the Standard range Model Y disappeared days after it also received a price reduction to $39,990.
However, there is some evidence that Tesla may remove the Standard range Model Y forever. Chief Executive Elon Musk said in July that the company would not make the lower-end version of the vehicle because the 244 miles of range was not suitable.
However, Tesla released the Standard range in January.
Tesla’s frequent price changes have been frustrating for shoppers and owners. It’s tough to know when is the best time to buy and there are plenty of instances of prices being lowered shortly after purchase.
Do you think the Standard range Model Y is gone for good?
